Overview of the role
As a Data Engineering Lead in our team, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end data lifecycle, driving data technical roadmap by leveraging a modern data stack, ensuring that this is aligned with the organization\'s goals, and driving the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of data to extract meaningful information and deliver business value.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of data integration, migration, and BI projects that ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
• Drive setting the technical standards, mentoring data engineers, and driving innovation.
• Lead early-state design and feature definition activities.
• Lead the design and implementation of Big Data management and Cloud data platforms.
• Provide thought leadership in systems and techniques, including architectural patterns that work with data engineering, Data Science, and Machine Learning teams.
• Effectively prioritise and deliver a clear roadmap of deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with other teams to define the technical roadmap for developing new capabilities and ingesting new data sources.
• Work closely with the PMO to define and plan project delivery, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and inspire a team of data engineers.

Required skills to be successful

• Experience in designing, building, and launching highly available distributed systems for ETL, analytics, and data science.
• Experience in designing and hands-on development in cloud-based analytics solutions.
• Expertise in designing and building data pipelines using API ingestion and streaming ingestion methods.
• Expertise in Databricks, Python, PySpark, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
• Expertise with SQL databases (relational, Delta, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Agile software development.
• Thorough understanding of Azure / AWS Cloud Infrastructure offerings.

About the team
The role will report to the Head of Data Engineering & Operations and will be based in Dubai Festival City.

What equips you for the role

• 12 -15 years of experience in the data warehouse/Analytics domain with minimum 10+ years of relevant experience and 3+ years leading projects.
• Bachelor\'s degree in Computers or similar discipline.
• At least should have worked on minimum 2-3 domains, preferably Automotive, Retail, Corporate, HR etc.
• Relevant Cloud and PMP certifications would be added advantage.
