Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Consultant/Specialist Psychiatrist to join our dynamic mental health team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care to patients across various settings. This role involves clinical leadership, comprehensive diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management:

  • Provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a diverse caseload of patients in an [inpatient, outpatient, or mixed] setting.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive, person-centered treatment plans.
  • Manage a broad range of psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to:
  • Mood Disorders (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder)
  • Anxiety Disorders (OCD, PTSD, GAD, Panic Disorder)
  • Psychotic Disorders (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder)
  • Personality Disorders
  • Substance Use and Co-occurring Disorders
  • Child & Adolescent, Geriatric, or other sub-specialty populations (if applicable).
  • Prescribe and manage psychopharmacological treatments.
  • Provide psychotherapy and other somatic therapies (e.g., Electroconvulsive Therapy) as per training and credentialing.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage crisis interventions effectively.
Leadership & Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Serve as the attending physician and clinical leader for a multidisciplinary team, which may include nurses, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists.
  • Lead or actively participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and clinical team meetings.
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior medical staff, including psychiatric residents and fellows.
  • Contribute to the on-call rota for psychiatric emergencies.
Administrative & Clinical Governance:
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and comprehensive electronic medical records.
  • Actively participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Teaching & Research (if applicable):
  • Participate in the teaching and training of medical students, residents, and other healthcare staff.
  • Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities, with opportunities for publication and presentation.
