COMMIS CHEF (Baker/Pastry)
Reports To: Pastry Chef / Chef de Partie (Pastry Station)
Summary:
This Commis Chef works specifically in the bakery or pastry section of the kitchen. They assist the Pastry Chef in producing all baked goods, desserts, and pastries.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Pastry Prep: Assist in the preparation of doughs, batters, fillings, icings, and other pastry components.
  • Baking: Bake bread, rolls, and basic pastries under supervision.
  • Plating: Assist in plating desserts according to the established design.
  • Station Maintenance: Ensure the pastry section is kept immaculately clean. Maintain and care for specialized pastry equipment.
Qualifications:
  • A keen interest in baking and pastry arts.
  • Attention to detail and a delicate touch.
  • Basic understanding of baking science (e.g., measuring, temperatures).
  • Culinary school training with a pastry focus is beneficial.
