Business and Human Rights Consultant
Control Risks is looking for an exceptional business and human rights (BHR) consultant to join our expanding BHR practice.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the BHR team, offering support across a range of labour rights projects, human rights assessments (HRA) and security and human rights projects. They should have a good working knowledge of key BHR principles and be able to apply them in a range of complex and demanding settings in this fast-paced and dynamic practice.
Requirements:
Key responsibilities include:

• Managing complex business and human rights projects across the Middle East.
• Conducting worker welfare monitoring activities, including employment practice audits and labour accommodation inspections.
• Drafting proposals and reports and delivering content to clients in person.
• Creating framework scoring sheets and data dashboards.
• Conducting site visits and developing trusted advisor relationships with clients.
• Supporting business development efforts by identifying opportunities.
• Developing proposals, preparing budgets, and creating tailored capability statements and case studies.
• Advising on a range of security and human rights matters in challenging locations
• Supporting human rights assessments and supply chain due diligence projects

• Self-starting attitude, able to work independently within broad strategic guidelines

• Collaborative approach to teamwork and inter-team operation

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and project challenges

• Exceptional communication skills

• High standards of propriety and ethics

• A good academic record in a relevant discipline or practical skills demonstrated in another environment (e.g. Military or other institutional setting)

• 5+ years of relevant practical work experience in labour rights, HRAs and security and human rights

• Language skills are a significant advantage (especially those spoken in South Asia or the Middle East)

• Ability and willingness to travel across the Middle East region for project delivery
