Accounting Manager with strong expertise in accounting and finance, specifically within the oil trading industry.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial accounts, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting trading operations with financial insights. The role requires a solid understanding of commodity trading practices, derivatives, and industry-specific financial instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
?Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end closing.
?Monitor and reconcile trading P&L, inventory valuation, and cash flows in coordination with the trading desk.
?Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports with insights tailored to oil trading activities.
?Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax regulations, and local financial reporting requirements.
?Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions regarding audits, tax filings, and financial arrangements.
?Implement financial controls and procedures to mitigate risk in trading operations.
?Work closely with front, middle, and back office teams to support trade lifecycle from execution to settlement.
?Manage exposure and perform mark-to-market valuations of derivative instruments and physical positions.
?Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis for trading and hedging strategies.
?Assist in systems implementation or enhancement (e.g., Odoo or other ERPs).
?Manage AP and AR processes to ensure timely payment and collection.
?Prepare and process invoices, credit memos, and purchase orders.
?Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
?Prepare financial reports and statements for management review.
?Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
?Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, ACCA, CFA preferred).
?Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance within the oil & gas or commodity trading sector.
?Strong knowledge of trading accounting practices, including derivatives and hedging.
?Proficient in financial systems (ETRM platforms, ERP systems, Excel, Power BI).
?Familiarity with international accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
?Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
?Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
?Experience with crude oil, refined products, or bunker trading.
?Understanding of physical and paper trading settlements.
?Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
