Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and have experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting environments. This role involves managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Accountant will play a crucial role in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support the organization's financial health.

Duties

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. Perform account reconciliations, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking. Conduct financial analysis and cash flow analysis to inform strategic decision-making. Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations. Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure adherence to SOX compliance. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management. Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices in accounting. Prepare for audits by gathering necessary documentation and supporting materials. Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting processes and financial planning initiatives.

Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA certification is a plus. Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments. Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and general ledger accounting. Familiarity with securities law, governmental accounting, wills, trusts & estate law is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and data analysis. Experience with financial software for reporting purposes; familiarity with technical accounting standards is preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively. Excellent communication skills for reporting findings to stakeholders.
