: AccountantPosition Title: Accountant Department: Finance Reporting To: Group Finance Manager Revised Date: 01 Jan 20261. Job ObjectiveThe Accountant is responsible for managing and controlling the daily accounting activities of a clearing, forwarding, and logistics operation. The primary goal is to ensure accurate financial records, maintain cost control, ensure statutory compliance, and provide timely reporting in accordance with Qatar regulations.2. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & FinanceMaintain books of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and cash/bank transactions.Prepare monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.Handle invoice booking for freight charges, customs duties, port charges, and vendor bills.Monitor client billing for clearing and forwarding services (air, sea, and land freight).Ensure timely customer invoicing and follow up on receivables.Reconcile bank, supplier, and customer statements.Operations & Cost ControlMaintain job costing per shipment and analyze profitability.Track customs duty payments, government fees, and port charges.Control clearing agent advances and the settlement of job files.Monitor freight cost variations and provide cost analysis per shipment or client.Taxation, Compliance & AuditEnsure compliance with Qatar Tax Law and assist in tax filings.Support external auditors during annual audits and maintain documentation for government inspections.Ensure adherence to company policies and internal controls.Reporting & AdministrationPrepare monthly MIS reports for management.Coordinate with operations, sales, and clearing teams for job closure.Assist the Group Finance Manager with budgeting and forecasting.Assist with payroll processing, leave settlements, and employee expense claims.3. RequirementsEducation: Minimum University degree in Accounting & Commerce, or partly qualified in professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CA, or CMA.Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar business environment.Age: Approximately 23 to 35 years of age.Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically advanced Excel skills.Communication: Good business communication skills.
