Key Roles and Responsibilities
The primary duties of an Accountant generally fall into these categories:
Financial Reporting & Record Keeping:
Manage and oversee all accounting transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare and publish timely, accurate
financial statements
(Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) for internal and external use.
Handle
monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
(e.g., journal entries, accruals, deferrals).
Maintain the
General Ledger
and reconcile bank and financial accounts to resolve discrepancies.
Compliance and Auditing:
Compute
taxes
owed, prepare tax returns, and ensure timely compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Direct and coordinate internal and external
audits

Ensure compliance with

Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in
MS Excel
