. The successful candidate will oversee all accounting activities, including financial record keeping, invoicing, payroll, tax compliance, budgeting, and inventory cost control. Working closely with the garage management team, the accountant ensures that the business operates profitably and in full financial compliance.
Key Responsibilities:1. Financial Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar).
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (e.g., cash flow, income statements, balance sheets).
Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of ledger entries.
2. Invoicing & Receivables
Generate customer invoices for services, parts, and repairs.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Record daily sales, including cash, card, and credit transactions.
3. Payables & Expense Tracking
Manage accounts payable, including payment to suppliers, parts vendors, utility providers, and subcontractors.
Track and verify bills for accuracy and authorization before processing payments.
Maintain petty cash and daily cash reconciliation.
4. Payroll & Employee Records
Prepare and process employee payroll, including overtime, deductions, and benefits.
Maintain staff attendance records in coordination with the garage manager.
Ensure statutory compliance (e.g., tax deductions, social security contributions, etc.).
5. Budgeting & Cost Control
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for garage operations.
Monitor operating costs and suggest areas for improvement or cost reduction.
Track parts and inventory expenses and liaise with the parts manager to manage stock levels.

Prepare and submit Cooperative Tax returns
and ensure compliance with cooperative society regulations (if applicable).
Maintain documentation and reports for VAT audits and tax inspections.
Stay updated with changes in VAT rates, input tax credits, and exemptions relevant to automotive services.
Ensure timely payment of taxes (advance tax, TDS, VAT, Cooperative Tax, etc.) to avoid penalties.
Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, GST, income tax, etc.) in compliance with local regulations.
Liaise with external auditors or tax authorities during inspections or audits.
Maintain proper documentation and financial records for audit readiness.
7. System & Process Improvement
Improve financial processes and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Recommend and help implement suitable accounting systems or software upgrades.
Train and support junior administrative staff on basic financial procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of accounting experience
, preferably in an automotive or service-based industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar).
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll, and tax regulations.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
Knowledge of auto parts, labor costing, and workshop operations is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a mechanical garage, car service center, or automotive workshop.
Familiarity with inventory management systems.
Good communication skills to coordinate with technicians, suppliers, and customers.
Working Conditions:
Office located within or adjacent to the garage environment.
May occasionally interact with garage customers, technicians, and suppliers.
Standard working hours, with flexibility during month-end or tax periods.
