Job Overview
Working as an Academic Data Manager at GEMS International School Al Khail, you will play a crucial role in leading on the overall management of pupil data and whole school data analysis and trend identification, using the school MIS management system. Analysis of data will be across the whole school, in accordance with school and external requirements. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the collection, organisation, analysis and reporting of academic data and will support the Executive Leadership Team in making data-driven decisions to improve academic programs and outcomes.
Due to the nature of the post, a genuine interest in education and the growth of young learners is essential.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
1) Data Collection and Management
Oversee the collection and storage of academic data, including student performance, enrollment statistics, attendance records, and other relevant data.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Implement data quality control measures to maintain clean and reliable datasets
2. Data Analysis and Reporting
Analyse academic data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform academic program improvements.
Prepare regular reports to present data findings to administrators
In depth understanding of the KHDA framework for inspection and its success indicators.
3. Database Management
Manage and maintain academic databases and information systems and to ensure seamless integration
Implement data migration, integration, and extraction processes to support reporting and analysis needs.
Work with the Director of IT to ensure database security and backup procedures are in place.
4. Technology Integration
Collaborate with IT teams to implement and maintain academic information systems, such as student information systems (SIS) and learning management systems (LMS).
Assist in the integration of various data sources and systems to create a unified academic data ecosystem.
Ensure annual roll over procedures are carried, ensuring data integrity
5. Compliance and Security
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and institutional policies.
Develop and enforce data security protocols to protect sensitive academic information.
6. Training and Support
Train teaching staff and administration team in data entry procedures and the use of academic data systems.
Provide support and assistance to users in accessing and interpreting academic data.
7. Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with academic departments and administrators to identify areas for improvement based on data insights.
Make recommendations on the best ways to collect / highlight / present data for analysis
8. Project Management
Manage academic data-related projects, including data migrations, system upgrades, and software implementations.
Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Ensure documentation is kept up to date for systems and processes
9. Communication
Facilitate communication between academic departments, administrators, and IT teams regarding data-related needs and initiatives.
10. Standardised Assessments
Liaise with the Assistant Heads of schools to roster, schedule and administer termly testing of baseline assessments, including MAP, CAT4 etc
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in data management, information technology, education, or a related field.
Experience in data management, database administration, or educational data analysis.
Proficiency in database management systems and data visualisation tools.
Experience of working with PowerBi is highly desirable
Knowledge of data privacy regulations, such as GDPR
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Project management experience is desirable
Familiarity with educational technology and software systems, including SIS and LMS platforms.
Fluency in English is essential
Experience of working with KHDA highly desirable for this role
