ABC seeks to recruit a Wholesale IT Back Office Support Specialist in the Group Information Technology Department based in our Head Office in Bahrain. This position is within the Application Services unit department based in Bahrain. The application services Unit is responsible for both development and rollout of new system and support of mature and legacy systems. The applications services unit has responsibility for the majority of the mission critical applications used in the head office as well as those used in the international branch network.
This position involves working in a team with responsibilities for both new developments of applications and tools and support of existing systems. Scope of the Job Reporting to the Wholesale Back Office Support Head the job holder is responsible to:
  • Providing application support for the applications falling under a particular domain.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of software defects in all applications assigned.
  • Liaise with the vendor on specific faults providing adequate information and checking status. This may require taking to internal clients to ascertain and recreate faults.
  • Developing low level designs from approved functional and business requirements.
  • Java and P/L SQL programming when requested and advising of best practice and standard approaches.
  • Coding and unit testing when requested to do so.
  • Ensuring that tasks are completed on time and that your peers are aware of the status of activities at all time.
  • Working with the specialists to convert requirements into PL/SQL routines / JAVA.
  • Providing input to the team regarding processes and methodologies and utilities which may streamline the effectiveness of the team.
  • Being proactive and multi-tasking.
  • Ensuring all designs and code is documented and tested as per the development standards
Areas of Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
  • 2+ experience in using JAVA, PL/SQL, SQL Plus and API Development.
  • Experience working with large multi-tier applications
  • Knowledge of Banking in at least one or more of these areas : (Trade Finance, Front Office, Back Office, Risk Systems, HR systems, Report systems)
  • Enterprise Application Platform (EAP): Jboss EAP / Other EAP
  • Messaging and queuing middleware: IBM MQ
  • Databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Development skills: Java Development Kit (JDK), Finastra SDK Customization (JAVA base), Report development, API development
  • Operating Systems: Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Application Container: Docker, OpenShift,
  • Cloud Infrastructure: AWS
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or information Technology
  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills (oral/written)
