Job Description

Prepare, review and approve proposed welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.

Guide Corrosion and materials departments on the material selection with respect to welding as on when required.

Advise and guide in developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications.

Develop Welding specifications to ensure integrity of equipment and facilities used in PDO.

Carry out failure analysis and find solutions to welding related problems.

Shall demonstrate sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.), materials, welding and fabrication methods in onshore oil and gas industry. Expert knowledge in welding of high strength pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in oil and gas industry is a must.

Shall have sound technical knowledge of corrosion / fracture / fatigue / creep / embrittlement behaviour of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry.

Shall demonstrate capability in preparation of WPS, selection of welding consumables; ability to undertake weldment failure analysis; welding related problems diagnosis and solutions; qualification of welding procedures.

Shall have experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes (ANSI/ASME, ASTM, API, BS, EN, MSS, ISO, etc.) used in oil and gas industry, and preferably with PDO Technical Standards.

Requirements

Education : Shall be a post graduate qualification in Welding Engineering or Degree in Welding/Metallurgical Engineer with IWE/EWE certification. Welding Inspection Personnel qualifications such as CSWIP/AWS shall not substitute as an acceptable qualification for Welding Engineer in lieu of the requirements given above.

Experience : Shall have at least 12 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore oil & gas or petrochemical industry facilities (pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical fabrication, pipelines, piping, etc.).

Specific Skills :

English language read, write and speaking to IELTS level 4 or equivalent.

Able to work with computers, word, excel, and windows.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrable leadership, decision making and analytical thinking skills.

Professional knowledge of rest of the Microsoft Office packages.
