Skills / Qualifications
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- AWS - CWI or CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification is must.
- Level II certification for main NDE methods.
- Experience in PQR documentation is must.
- 1-3 Years of Experience as Welding Inspector in drilling tools.
- Develop and implement welding procedures and specifications for specific projects, considering factors such as materials, welding techniques, and industry codes and standards.
- A welding engineer may specialize in a particular material, such as Stainless Steel, Steel and Nickel alloys in a specific area, such as Drilling Tools.
- welding engineer plans, coordinates, and supervises welding operations.
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical documents.
- Manage the welding department, ensuring that all welding activities adhere to safety and quality standards.
- Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to client specifications.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and welding supplies.
- Train and oversee new employees in welding.
- Liaise with other departments on welding-specific issues.
- Prepares technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.
- Conduct welding inspections and quality control tests to evaluate weldments\' integrity, including visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and destructive testing (DT).
- Monitor and evaluate welding processes, equipment, and consumables to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality while minimizing costs and waste.
- Identify and troubleshoot welding-related issues, such as defects, distortions, and material failures, and propose appropriate solutions or process improvements.
- Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections, including measuring and verifying dimensions, fit-up, and weld profiles.
- Conduct visual inspections to assess weld quality, joint preparation, and overall workmanship.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards, such as EN , ASME Section IX, or International Standards.
