Responsible for leading innovation initiatives and driving new business development aligned with ALSAC’s Enterprise Strategic Plan. This position will lead the New Ventures team and work collaboratively with ALSAC leadership, cross-functional teams, and external advisors and partners to identify, test, validate, operationalize and scale opportunities for growth by creating new audience led initiatives to disrupt current businesses or develop new business segments. This position will have a leader with proven expertise in innovation and business development. The position serves as an senior leader innovation champion and catalyst, supporting the cultural transformation of ALSAC into a strategic, innovative and data driven workplace.
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 15 years working in strategy, new business development, venture incubation, as an entrepreneurial or combination of them.
  • Must have 10+ proven years’ experience generating revenue/growth through new business development or start-ups while serving in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in starting a new business, either as an independent startup or within a large corporation or business incubator, or commercializing technology from inception to market adoption.
  • Must possess a passion for building new businesses, along with the curiosity, vision, optimism, empathy, and rigorous strategic mindset required to assess, shape, and support emerging business. Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to build consensus around big ideas.
  • Must have experience interfacing with senior executives, ideally as a subject matter expert and thought leader in new business development and/or innovation. Experience developing strong relationships with business and technology leaders, understanding their strategic priorities, challenges, and needs.
  • Proven experience building and leading initiatives that require cross-org collaboration and support from senior leadership, board of directors or venture investors is critical.
  • Strong and inclusive leader with demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Proven ability to effectively build and lead a team. Excellent interpersonal skills in managing various levels and types of stakeholders.
  • Data-driven decision maker with understanding of market trends and the analytical acumen to identify new business/growth opportunities.
  • Must be creative, possess innovative thinking skills, strong negotiation and influencing skills, ability to generate and sell new ideas, results focused and service orientated, and a demonstrated ability to generate new ideas.
Prefer the following:
  • Innovation and/or Design Thinking credentials and experience preferred.
  • Experience in M&A, product development, tech product marketing, corporate strategy, corporate business development, or venture capital a plus.
