Job Summary:
The Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor oversees the repair, service, and overall maintenance of a company's vehicle fleet. They manage a team of mechanics and technicians, ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards, maintain service records, and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Team Management:
Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and mechanics.
Assign tasks and oversee daily repair and maintenance operations.
Conduct performance reviews and provide training when necessary.
Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Oversight:
Ensure preventive maintenance is scheduled and completed on time.
Diagnose issues and recommend repair solutions.
Approve major repairs and replacements as needed.
Ensure proper use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Inventory & Parts Management:
Monitor inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Order new parts and ensure timely availability of materials.
Maintain vendor relationships for parts procurement.
Fleet & Maintenance Records:
Maintain detailed service and repair logs for all vehicles.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Prepare reports on maintenance activities, costs, and vehicle performance.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Monitor maintenance budgets and control costs.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Compliance & Safety:
Enforce workplace safety policies.
Ensure all vehicles comply with local transport regulations.
Conduct regular inspections for safety and roadworthiness.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in vehicle maintenance or fleet management.
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair procedures, and maintenance scheduling.
Familiarity with maintenance software or fleet management systems.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in a workshop or garage environment.
May require flexible hours, including weekends or emergency call-outs.
Some administrative work in an office setting.
