Job Description

Construction Transport Manager is responsible for managing the movement of construction materials, heavy equipment, and personnel to and from job sites. This role ensures timely deliveries, regulatory compliance, and the optimal utilization of vehicles and equipment to support ongoing construction projects. Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate the transportation of construction materials, machinery, and site personnel across multiple project sites. Oversee the daily operations of the transport fleet, including scheduling, routing, and tracking. Ensure all transport activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., HSE, DOT, local regulations). Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and procurement teams to meet delivery timelines and site requirements. Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and improve safety. Supervise drivers and logistics staff, ensuring training, compliance, and performance standards are met. Control transportation budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service levels. Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, delivery documentation, and incident reports. Respond quickly to operational issues, delays, or emergencies that may impact construction timelines. Implement transport management systems (TMS) and tools to enhance visibility and operational efficiency. Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Construction Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 12 years' experience in transport/logistics within a construction company. Strong understanding of construction logistics, site access requirements, and load limitations. Proven leadership and team coordination abilities. Knowledge of heavy vehicle regulations, permits, and compliance standards. Familiarity with fleet tracking and transport management software.
