The Timekeeper is responsible for accurately tracking and recording employee work hours, attendance, and job-related activities to ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and project requirements. This role supports payroll processing, budget tracking, and workforce management on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Time & Attendance Tracking:
Record daily work hours for all site personnel (employees, subcontractors, and laborers).
Verify timesheets, job codes, and cost allocations for accuracy.
Monitor attendance, late arrivals, early departures, and absences.
Payroll & Reporting Support:
Submit verified timesheets to payroll promptly.
Resolve discrepancies in hours worked with supervisors and employees.
Generate reports on labor hours, overtime, and productivity for project managers.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure adherence to company policies, union agreements (if applicable), and labor laws.
Maintain records for audits and legal requirements.
Assist with certified payroll reporting for government projects (if needed).
Site Coordination:
Liaise with foremen, supervisors, and HR to confirm work assignments.
Track equipment usage and labor allocation per project phase.
Support project budgeting by providing labor cost data.
Administrative Duties:
File and organize timekeeping records.
Assist with onboarding new hires (e.g., collecting timekeeping forms).
Use timekeeping software (e.g., Procore, QuickBooks, or specialized tools).
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma (required); associate degree in accounting or related field (preferred).
Experience:
1+ years in timekeeping, payroll, or admin (construction industry preferred).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Excel, timekeeping software, and payroll systems.
Detail-Oriented:
Strong accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
Communication:
Ability to interact with field and office teams.
Organizational:
Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions:
Primarily on-site at construction locations (may involve outdoor work).
Occasional overtime to meet payroll deadlines.
