Key Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain scalable telemetry pipelines for collecting, parsing, transforming, and routing logs from servers, containers, applications, network devices, and cloud services
• Optimize logging agents, ingestion layers, and storage backends to ensure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Define and enforce log quality standards including schemas, severity levels, metadata tagging, and naming conventions
• Enable correlation of logs with metrics and traces to support full-stack observability and root cause analysis
• Partner with security and operations teams to ensure log integrity, retention, availability, and compliance with regulatory and forensic requirements
• Identify gaps in telemetry coverage, onboard missing log sources, and ensure full coverage of mission-critical assets
• Maintain detailed documentation for telemetry pipelines, schemas, retention policies, and access controls
• Support advanced observability use cases such as anomaly detection, trend analysis, alert enrichment, and operational analytics
• Integrate logging platforms with SIEM, APM, and incident management tools
• Participate in SRE and DevOps practices including incident retrospectives, reliability reviews, and capacity planning
• Stay current with observability standards and tooling, including OpenTelemetry and CNCF ecosystem projects
• Provide on-call support for critical telemetry pipeline issues as part of a structured rota

Ideal Profile

• Extensive hands-on experience with centralized logging platforms such as ELK Stack, OpenSearch, Splunk, Fluentd, Fluent Bit, or Loki
• Strong understanding of structured and unstructured log formats, parsing, field extraction, enrichment, and normalization
• Proven experience designing and operating telemetry pipelines across hybrid and cloud environments
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, syslog, JSON, protobuf, OTLP, and cloud-native logging services
• Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation, deployment, and data hygiene
• Ability to translate operational and reliability requirements into effective telemetry strategies
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and system resilience
