Petrofac is currently looking to recruit a Technical Translator on a permanent basis based in Sharjah, UAE.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Provide conversation and written language translation services between English and the target

language in accordance to the protocol and instructions regarding nature and accuracy of translation.

B. Receive as input technical documents from various disciplines. Read and rewrite documents in

specified language following established rules pertaining factors like word meanings, sentence

structuring, grammar, punctuation and mechanics.

C. Render oral translations of the material at time of being spoken. Express either approximate or exact

translations depending on the nature of the occasion. Serve as an interpreter at seminars, meeting

and teleconferences and provide consecutive translation between the languages.

D. Handle translation of the specification sheets and ensure consistent application of glossary for

software localization and document translation.

E. Provide staff and subcontractors with corrections or suggestions for changes in document.

F. Regularly consult colleagues, specialized dictionaries, glossaries for keeping up-to-date on relevant

issues pertaining to the type of work.

G. Transfer the documents for clients review and signatory approvals.

H. Perform general administration duties such as sorting and distribution of incoming documents for

translations.

I. Keep abreast with development in both the source and the target languages updating the specific

terminologies, phrases, special expressions, lexicon and acronyms in order to expand vocabulary

and enhance skills.

J. Professionally translate all documents in adherence with the guidelines

Minimum Requirement

Bachelors Degree in Languages or professional qualification from School of translation with 3-5 years of

relevant experience in translation.
