Position Overview
This role supports Parsons' design and construction teams by providing advanced materials engineering expertise across major roads, tunnels, bridges, and utilities projects in Abu Dhabi. The Technical Materials Specialist ensures material compliance, durability, quality, and adherence to industry and Abu Dhabi authority standards throughout all phases of infrastructure delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to design and construction teams on material applications, performance, and compliance
  • Review design documents with a focus on material selection, specification quality, and durability requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with ADQCC regulations, Abu Dhabi municipal standards, and international codes including ASTM, BS, and AASHTO
  • Coordinate closely with design disciplines, supervision teams, PMC/RE, contractors, and suppliers to resolve material-related issues
  • Support sustainable material practices and recommend environmentally responsible alternatives
  • Stay up to date on innovations in materials engineering and integrate relevant advancements into project workflows
  • Update, review, and develop technical materials specifications for ongoing and new projects
  • Assist with approvals, testing requirements, and quality management processes related to materials
  • Contribute to resolving nonconformance issues and ensuring corrective actions related to material performance
  • Provide expert insight into material durability, long-term performance, and lifecycle considerations across civil infrastructure assets
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in materials engineering, design, and quality control for infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, tunnels, and utilities
  • Strong understanding of ADQCC requirements and Abu Dhabi authority standards (DMT, ADM, DRM, AACM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of international standards such as ASTM, BS, AASHTO
  • Experience supporting materials review and approval processes in major infrastructure programs
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across design and construction phases
