The Role: The Middle East Tax Manager is a newly created position for an individual contributor to manage all tax matters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region under direction of Global Tax located at Lucid Headquarter in Newark, California (US) and in partnership with local business leaders and outside tax advisors and consultants. The role is broad based and includes local, regional, and international tax matters for both technical and practical application of direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting. This position requires an experienced tax professional with international operations and tax advisory experience on direct and indirect tax matters across the Middle East region. The ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude as a process owner with the ability to bridge both high-level concepts and detailed computations with a confident, strong professional presence.

Responsibilities: Lead local contact for tax matters in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region for reporting, compliance, and planning for direct and indirect taxes in coordination with US headquarters tax team and with support from outside tax advisors Manage preparation and filing of annual Corporate Income Tax returns Manage preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly tax compliance for Value Added Taxes and Withholding Taxes Manage local tax inspections and audits Lead efforts to manage and align local intercompany transfer pricing transactions, policies and compliance in alignment with Lucid's global tax policies Understand Lucid's global legal entity and tax structure and provide local input for entity expansion in the region consistent with the global structure Manage local tax input for compliance with new E-Invoicing Regulations, invoicing of goods and services in the region and other local ad hoc taxes Provide tax assistance as needed to business and logistics functions on internal projects related to expansion, contracts, new processes and systems to advise on tax considerations and ensure proper tax compliance Assist with preparation and review of general ledger tax accounts, quarterly and annual tax expense computations, and tax disclosures for local statutory, IFRS and US GAAP reporting Manage the design, implementation, execution, optimization and maintenance of local tax processes and controls Work closely with internal stakeholders and operating teams in concert with US headquarters tax and external advisors, to provide clear input and tax guidance on local operational decisions Support and advise for tax impact on local and regional trade compliance matters Prepare and maintain local tax compliance calendars, tax project plans, project updates, and regular tax progress updates to local management and US headquarters tax team.

Qualifications: Completed advance degree in accounting or finance at an accredited institution with specialization in taxation Recognized professional tax qualification or certification, chartered accountant, or law degree (or similar) A minimum of 5 years of proven work experience in business taxation with significant exposure to corporate tax reporting and compliance responsibilities A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role managing tax matters Fluent in professional Arabic, and excellent verbal and written English language skills Advisory experience at "Big 4" or top-tier international accounting or law firm is highly preferred Prior experience with US or EMEA tax laws and systems is preferable but not essential Demonstrable experience and technical understanding of indirect and direct tax rules in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region Track record of managing compliance obligations for a multinational enterprise or across a portfolio of client companies Possess an analytical approach to problem solving, project management skills, attention to detail, deadline driven and a self-starter able to work independently and effectively Passion for tax technical knowledge, ability to analyze and review statutes, regulations, and case law to provide clear and concise tax advice to a wider business team Broad experience providing tax input and recommendations, including both strategic matters such as reviewing commercial contracts and practical matters such as moving goods between countries, and proposed international tax legislation Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with multiple levels within the organization Ability to handle complex accounting and tax issues/projects in a multi-tasking environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability Experience supporting strategic initiatives, audit responses, performing quantitative analysis, designing, developing, executing process improvements, modeling for proposed transactions or planning initiatives Flexibility in work schedule to operate across time zones due to time differences with our California-based Global headquarters and other international locations May require up to 10% travel
