Upstream Consulting Advisory Middle East Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 9 The Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Role: As Strategy Projects Director – and part of our upstream advisory business within the Commodity Insights unit you will be able to:
  • develop and scope with clients at C-suite level innovative, industry leading integrated upstream consulting applications by leveraging multi-disciplined S&P Global software, data, and insights,
  • manage and oversee delivery, and
  • independently develop “go to market” scale strategies working with consulting sales and product development teams to develop repeat engagements.
The Team: The Upstream Advisory team is based on a center of excellence concept globally located in traditional oil industry hub locations, we work for energy companies, international contractors/suppliers, and finance customers worldwide. Our range of services include acquisitions, divestitures, farm-outs and other transactions, exploration strategy and bid rounds, operating/financial benchmarking, market sizing, materials intelligence programs, performance improvement, technology, market studies across the O&G value chain, and E&P regulatory policy, fiscal terms, and country risk. The Impact: This role is highly pivotal to achieving long term upstream advisory growth potential in a rapidly evolving energy industry, located in the Middle East providing global outreach. Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include:
  • developing a sales pipeline both with existing and new customers
  • integrating and aligning offerings across the entire organization
  • proposal writing and presentation of winning bids
  • technical delivery of services to time and allocated budget to the highest standard
  • applying lessons learned and best practice to improve and optimize delivery
  • creation and facilitation of “go to market” scale strategies
  • representation in leading industry forums such as SPE, CERA week and various conferences
What We’re Looking For: As a senior member of the team, we are looking for role model behavioral competency including:
  • team player with excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills, a problem solver and able to collaborate through global networking and focus on accessing expert support for clients’ needs
  • driven and self-starter having business development, technical upstream breadth, and IT skills across multi-platform applications
  • strong leadership with the ability to apply strategic thinking and pragmatic business decision making to prioritize oportunities
  • strong project management skills in supervising colleagues and coordinating workstreams to deliver work on time, on budget to the highest standard
  • role model communicator with excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • fluent in English both written and verbal. Additional languages such as Arabic or French will be an added advantage
We are looking for experience and qualifications in the following areas:
  • internationally recognized business MBA and / or start up business experience with supporting Batchelor’s Science / Management Degree, or related discipline
  • requires a 20+-year cross discipline upstream background including technical benchmarking, costs and commercial as well as working in a strategy group for an operator or international contractor, with a minimum of 10 years working in the Middle East
  • demonstrable experience in scenario planning, strategy frameworks and decision planning.
  • cross industry cost estimating and benchmarking experience, in quantity surveying / front end consultancy or similar
  • commercial claims resolution experience
  • development of major company strategies facing the upstream energy transition.
  • hands on practical experience in upstream projects covering subsea, drilling, complex processing, LNG etc.
  • experience in complex worksheet/database applications.
