Job Description

A warehouse storekeeper receives, stores, and dispatches goods, maintains accurate inventory records, manages stock levels, and ensures the warehouse operates efficiently and safely. Key responsibilities include inspecting deliveries, using inventory management systems, performing stock counts, organizing storage areas, and potentially operating equipment like forklifts.

Responsibilities

Receiving and Verifying Goods:Inspecting incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies and verifying them against purchase orders. Inventory Management:Maintaining accurate records of all stock, including tracking quantities, locations, and stock movements. Order Picking and Packing:Accurately fulfilling orders by picking items from shelves and preparing them for dispatch. Stock Organization:Organizing and arranging goods in the warehouse, ensuring proper storage and stock rotation. Stock Monitoring:Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages or surpluses and coordinating with departments on restocking needs. Dispatching Goods:Preparing goods for shipment, coordinating freight handling, and ensuring timely deliveries. Warehouse Operations:Maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment, adhering to health and safety regulations, and potentially performing minor repairs. Record Keeping:Documenting all warehouse transactions and maintaining detailed records. Equipment Operation:Safely operating equipment such as forklifts or other common warehouse machinery.

Skills

Inventory Management:Strong understanding of inventory control principles and practices. Organizational Skills:Excellent ability to organize stock, information, and the warehouse environment. Attention to Detail:Meticulous in tracking inventory, verifying deliveries, and maintaining records. Computer Proficiency:Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems (IMS) are often required. Communication:Effective verbal communication to coordinate with team members, suppliers, and other departments. Problem-Solving:Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues that arise with inventory or warehouse operations.
