To maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. The steward is responsible for ensuring that all kitchen tools, equipment, and working areas are properly cleaned and organized, supporting the kitchen and F&B teams efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Wash and sanitize all dishes, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
Clean kitchen floors, walls, and all surfaces to maintain hygienic standards.
Collect and dispose of trash and food waste from all kitchen and dining areas.
Ensure proper segregation of waste (organic, recyclable, hazardous).
Organize clean dishes and equipment properly in their designated areas.
Refill soap and paper towel dispensers in kitchen areas as required.
Assist chefs and kitchen staff when needed during busy hours (e.g. delivering equipment, ice, etc.).
Maintain cleaning equipment and report any damage or malfunction to the supervisor.
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Support the overall cleanliness of the back-of-house area.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a steward or in a similar role (preferred but not mandatory).
Basic knowledge of hygiene and sanitation.
Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift for long hours.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with a positive attitude.
Willingness to work on weekends, holidays, and shifts.
Working Conditions:
May involve long hours, especially during peak service times.
Exposure to hot, humid, or wet conditions in kitchen and dishwashing areas.
