  • Ecosystem building and offering catalogue development (key responsibility for the first 6 to 9 months)
    • Scout for best-in-class startups in the relevant fields (e.g. sustainability and renewable energy, clean technology, energy transition and efficiency, digital transformation, digital twins) by partnering with educational and research institutes, key incubators, accelerators, investors, key partners (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Accenture), government bodies (WEF, UN, Governments).
    • Select startups and certifying them, following Worley quality standards. Creating and setting up internal capability to provide certification to start ups, in line with requirements and with company sustainability strategy.
    • Build and maintain a list of curated startups to be shared with the market units and- where relevant – interact with clients to find start ups that can solve clients business challenges.
  • Business Development
    • Bring innovation and ventures to key clients, participate to client pitches and screen start ups that meet client challenges, introduce start ups to clients to present solution to challenges and start delivering POC.
  • Market awareness
    • Grow and curate partner start up community and represent the company externally – continuously working to grow community, attract top notch startups and manage screening of startups/ applications to ensure prospective members represents a good fit for the company and our clients as well as ensuring right positioning the new unit in the market.
Detailed responsibilities and tasks with regards to Ecosystem Building and Market Awareness
  • Define and structure Worley governance, service catalogue/offer portfolio and internal certification framework to work with startups. This will entail creation of startup engagement draft process framework (including proper contractual /legal documentation in place), set up the internal start up due diligence and certification capability. Define and update startup master list and deck repository to keep track of partner start ups per offering and assign internal SPOCs.
  • Develop engagement with stakeholders in the tech/ start up ecosystem . The role holder will represent Worley externally, raising awareness of the brand and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement with key stakeholders within the wider ecosystem - startups, journalists, clients and bringing together like-minded startups who understand the value of collaboration and are able to positively contribute to Worley’s client development. He/she will also lead the engagement with external stakeholders and partners to continuously scout for new startups/partners.
  • Brand awareness and outreach for our third party/start up program. This will involve hosting relevant events with clients and external audiences, participating in conferences and speaking engagements, networking, and more.
  • Assess and manage partnerships. Create opportunities to engage with relevant partners in a way that generates maximum value for Worley and its clients.
  • Build team to manage experience of partners and startups as well as work with clients on business development activities.
Job Specific Skills
  • Experienced in business development or on the BD side of sales or marketing, experience in innovation and consulting. Top-notch professional commercial and communication skills are fundamental to this role. Strong client skills are required.
  • Has developed enterprise-wide strategy
    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in strategy development in consulting or technology world through the application of top tier problem solving and analytical skills. Has led the entire range of problem-solving work – from problem definition to analysis to recommendation and the development of implementation plans.
  • Consistent track record of leading innovation, and/or product management functions in a relevant setting
    • History of taking customer-centric innovative product ideas from concept to implementation. Prior experiences with product innovation in technology/telecommunications and ventures.
  • Corporate and Business Development
    • Has successfully developed and vetted a strong pipeline of partnership, and/or corporate venture capital opportunities.
  • Executive Capacity
    • Has been an executive of consequence leading cross-business teams and been a trusted partner with internal and external C-level and board stakeholders.
  • Relevant industry experience
    • Familiarity with key technologies and startups
