Job Overview

The Software Development Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects on time, within budget, and within scope. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills who can oversee all aspects of a project, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, an effective communicator, and adept at managing resources and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Initiation:

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management plans. Identify and secure necessary resources and assemble project teams.

Project Execution & Monitoring:

Lead the day-to-day execution of projects, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and to the required quality standards. Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana) to monitor progress, costs, and scope. Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

Act as the primary point of contact for project communications. Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders and senior management. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Lead, motivate, and support project team members, fostering a collaborative environment. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Facilitate team meetings and ensure effective collaboration.

Project Closure:

Conduct post-project evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement. Ensure all project documentation is complete and archived. Facilitate the handover of completed projects to operational teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience (5+ years) as a Software Development Manager, leading and delivering complex projects. Solid understanding of formal project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid). Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in project management software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet). Experience with budgeting and cost management.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, Computer Science, or a related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster - CSM). Experience in IP Industry Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
