About You & the Role

We're looking for a truly outstanding Shopify & Web developer (WordPress) to take a leading role in growing our e-commerce websites selling vapes. Join our team and bring your expertise in Shopify development to the forefront. You'll work closely with SEO and designers and tackle complex builds. You will also be able to build lots of custom code to create awesome interactive UX journeys.

You will use your distinct perspectives, development experience, and in-depth understanding of everything necessary to specialise in Shopify Projects to create an engaging and knowledgeable online shop that will truly elevate our websites and lead to enhanced client engagement and conversion.

Key skills you'll need

The candidate should be able to hit the ground running without the need for extensive training

Strong understanding of Website Performance Optimisation and Core Web Vitals. Enhance site performance by focusing on fast loading times, Web Vitals, and Accessibility standards. Handle projects independently. Craft, customise, execute and maintain high-quality Shopify stores. Own ongoing site maintenance, expansion and scaling. Capability and confidence in building new Shopify websites if needed. Perform testing, debugging, and code reviews to maintain quality standards. Lead project management initiatives, ensuring timely delivery. Ensure cross-browser and platform compatibility for optimal user experience. Handle migrations to and from Shopify. Responsible for optimising site performance, and UX and driving greater conversions. Theme customisation and template building based on brand requirements, with the key goals of improving user experience and conversion rate. App Extensions (Including Checkout UI, Theme Extension, Checkout Validation). Storefront API/Admin API/App Proxies - proficient in UX technologies, such as HTML5, CSS3, SASS, jQuery & JavaScript. Offer new compelling features through installation and configuration of Shopify extensions and customisation of applications. Propose new technologies and improvements for current projects. Has ownership over projects while also ensuring collaboration with every team to meet deadlines. Cooperate with in-house design & SEO marketing teams to gather and refine specifications and requirements for development. Ensure a smooth connection with Marketing Tools, Platform APIs, and Shopify Apps to optimise the shop for overall efficiency and functionality. Work with teams to ensure projects align with business goals and SEO best practices. Be open to learning additional e-commerce platforms for a broader understanding. Stay up-to-date with Shopify advancements and industry best practices.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience with the Shopify platform and Liquid, along with familiarity and working experience with WordPress. 3 years experience of front end development experience using Javascript, HTML5 & CSS3 and responsive design. Experience with Shopify 2.0 or similar e-commerce platforms. Be experienced in website development, troubleshooting and bug fixing. Have extensive knowledge of liquid templating engine. Take sense of 'ownership' on projects with a hands-on approach and be an expert in all aspects of the ECommerce platform. A self-motivated and results-oriented mindset Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Have previous experience implementing/debugging third-party Shopify apps, services and APIs, and plugins, as well as building unique solutions if needed. Liaise the third-party Shopify apps and APIs to add functionality and enhance website capabilities, such as payment gateways, shipping solutions, and marketing tools. Have extensive testing and debugging abilities using the browser console and other tools. Conduct thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve frontend issues, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and accessibility compliance. Have prior experience developing responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Ability to translate designs into responsive, component-based front-end solutions. Proficiency in WordPress CMS is a plus. Understanding of SEO principles and best practices. Familiarity with Core Web Vitals and page experience optimisation. Optimise website performance and loading speed through fronted optimisations, image compression, lazy loading techniques, and other optimisation strategies. Improve site conversion rate by working with the Shopify theme API as well as the Front-End Shopify cart API logic for a truly custom user experience Collaborating with the design and SEO marketing team to take visual designs and turn them into fully functional Shopify Theme code maintaining consistency with brand guidelines, usability and SEO best practices. Also including semantically correct liquid syntax, components, and blocks that will allow page section re-use. Manage the various dev requests as the first level of contact and Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in frontend development, Shopify platform updates, and e-commerce industry standards to continuously improve skills and techniques Experience with modern front-end frameworks and pre-processors. Hands-on experience with Shopify's API and creating custom apps. Familiarity with popular Shopify apps and third-party solutions (CRM, Search, Shipping, etc.). Experience with version control tools (Git, BitBucket).
