Position Overview
ADNOC is looking for an experienced Shift Superintendent to oversee and control refinery operations during assigned shifts in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while supervising raw material movements, product blending, and loading operations. Acting as the central point of control, the Shift Superintendent also serves as on-scene commander during emergencies, ensuring rapid and effective response.

Core Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate all shift operations covering raw materials, sulphur, refined products, blending, and loading activities at marine jetties and road tankers.
  • Monitor operation parameters and laboratory analyses to achieve production targets with minimal waste, reduced cost, and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams after hours to ensure timely and safe execution of mechanical, electrical, control, and safety activities.
  • Liaise with external companies such as GASCO, Borouge, and Fertil for operational requirements.
  • Ensure unit staff are trained in operational and emergency procedures, conducting scheduled emergency drills.
  • Act as on-scene commander during emergencies, declaring the type of emergency and leading effective response.
  • Investigate and discuss incidents and near misses with subordinates to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with unit supervisors to minimize flaring and optimize utility usage.
  • Handle security, administrative, and general service matters during after-hours and holidays.
  • Report on operational status, issues, and corrective actions to management.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in plant operations within oil and gas, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of refinery operations, HSE management systems, and emergency response protocols.
  • Proficiency in DCS software and basic computer literacy.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Valid UAE driving license is an advantage; knowledge of Arabic preferred.
