Service Centre Job Controller

Job Description

Acts as the operational link between front?end staff (service desk/reception) and the workshop technicians. Charged with scheduling, tracking, and optimizing the flow of all repair and maintenance jobs to ensure timely delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities

:

Job Allocation:

Interpret repair orders and job cards. Allocate tasks to technicians based on skill maps and workload balance. Ensures skilled resources match job complexity to meet promised delivery times.

Schedule Monitoring:

Use technician planning boards and Job Progress Control Boards (JPCBs/SAP) to stay on top of pending jobs, delays, parts shortages, or diagnostic issues. Enables proactive corrections and keeps customers informed.

Communication & Escalation:

Immediately notify advisors or supervisors when repairs take longer than promised or extra work is identified. Maintains transparency with customers and supports high satisfaction levels.

Productivity & Quality Oversight:

Track technician productivity, utilization, and adherence to flat?rate labour times; conduct random quality checks before handover. Helps meet efficiency benchmarks and reduces comebacks.

Operational Compliance:

Implement daily 5S audits, enforce safety procedures and SOPs, and motivate adherence. Maintains workshop discipline and prevents downtime.

Reporting & Analysis:

Generate daily productivity & downtime reports; flag bottlenecks. Assist with training needs. Supports management in decision making and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Liaise with parts, reception, service advisors; confirm job status at parts procurement; collect outstanding approvals or payments.Avoids job stoppages due to part delays and streamlines service chain.

Required Skills & Tools



Technical understanding

of vehicle systems and diagnostics, to explain technical details accurately to technicians and customers.

Analytical mindset

for interpreting productivity data and optimizing job flow. Experience using ERP or Dealer Management Systems such as SAP, Autoline, KeyLoop is a plus.

Strong communication

skills for dealing calmly and clearly with advisors, customers, and technicians.

Qualifications & Experience



Education

: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field. Some postings accept HOD/Industrial training that's heavily auto?based.

Experience

: Typically

2-5 years

in a similar workshop role or technician-supervisory function. Dealer environment preferred.

Certifications

: DMS/scheduling tool certification (e.g., SAP, Autoline), 5S/HSE certification preferred but not always mandatory.

Location & Languages

: A valid UAE driving licence is often required. English is mandatory; Arabic or Hindi is a plus in GCC-based centres.
