To lead and manage the mechanical engineering activities of MEP projects from design through execution and handover, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, project requirements, budget, and schedule. The role involves coordination with consultants, contractors, and clients to achieve successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning and Design Coordination
Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, etc.).
Develop detailed project execution plans, including material submittals, method statements, and schedules.
Coordinate with design consultants to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.).
Ensure design intent is fully captured and implemented on site.
2. Site Execution and Supervision
Supervise and monitor site installation activities to ensure quality and adherence to approved drawings and specifications.
Verify contractor workmanship, testing, and commissioning works.
Ensure all mechanical works are executed safely and on time.
Review subcontractors' work programs and monitor progress against target.
3. Technical and Commercial Management
Prepare and review material submittals, technical data sheets, and shop drawings for consultant approval.
Review BOQs, cost estimates, and assist in variation/claim preparation.
Manage procurement schedules for long-lead mechanical materials and equipment.
Support commercial team in verifying IPCs (Interim Payment Certificates).
4. Coordination and Communication
Coordinate with other disciplines (Electrical, Civil, Architectural) to avoid conflicts and ensure seamless integration.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors for inspections, progress reviews, and approvals.
Lead regular project meetings and issue progress reports to management.
5. Testing, Commissioning, and Handover
Prepare and supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures.
Verify and witness testing of HVAC systems, pumps, fire pumps, chilled water systems, and plumbing systems.
Ensure all O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and handover documents are completed and approved.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum
8-12 years
of experience in MEP contracting, with at least
3-5 years
in a senior project role.
Certifications:
PMP certification or equivalent is an advantage.
Technical Knowledge:
HVAC, Firefighting, Plumbing, Drainage Systems
AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), MS Project / Primavera
Relevant standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code)
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Languages:
Proficiency in English (Arabic an advantage).
