Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated

Senior Mechanical Engineer

to lead the design and coordination of mechanical building services in our consultancy team. This includes HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of

12 years

of experience in an MEP design consultancy role. Strong knowledge of local authority codes (Dubai Municipality, ADDC, Civil Defense) and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC). Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical system design tools such as HAP or similar. Professional membership (e.g., ASHRAE, CIBSE) would be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical design for HVAC, chilled water systems, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection from concept to detailed design. Develop comprehensive engineering calculations, equipment sizing, system layouts, and technical specifications in line with project requirements and codes. Review and validate mechanical designs for functionality, efficiency, and coordination with other disciplines. Provide leadership in cross-disciplinary coordination to ensure conflict-free and cohesive MEP designs. Review and approve mechanical material submittals, shop drawings, and construction methodologies submitted by contractors. Liaise with local authorities to ensure all mechanical systems are designed to meet or exceed regulatory and compliance standards. Provide site support including reviewing contractor RFIs, attending site inspections, and participating in testing and commissioning activities. Participate in energy modeling, sustainability strategies, and ensure mechanical systems meet green building standards (LEED, Estidama, etc.). Evaluate design alternatives during value engineering stages and make recommendations for cost-effective solutions. Attend and lead technical coordination meetings with clients, architects, and project stakeholders to ensure clear communication of design intent and solutions. Oversee the preparation of tender packages, BOQs, and performance specifications. Mentor junior engineers, contribute to internal knowledge sharing, and ensure compliance with QA/QC protocols across all deliverables. Assist in final inspections, prepare snag lists, and support handover procedures, including review of O&M manuals and system performance documentation.
