Purpose of Role : The Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions and Communication group is at the heart of attracting, engaging and delivering exceptional student and stakeholder experiences. From award-winning marketing campaigns, global student recruitment activities, and communications that put Heriot-Watt University on the global stage, our group delivers professional services that support the University\'s strategic ambitions.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of multi-media marketing campaigns that support international student recruitment and brand marketing objectives across UG and PG audiences, aligned to our HW Strategy 2025 plan
  • The role holder will originate content and act as subject matter expert on international student recruitment trends, key market behaviours, higher education marketing practices and competitor activities.
  • Using a data-driven approach, undertake targeting and segmentation of geographical markets. Working with colleagues in Dubai and globally, to understand target market preferences and audience behaviours and ensure an effective and highly targeted approach is embedded in marketing activities.
  • The role-holder will lead on the marketing plans and campaigns for the Dubai campus and colleagues in global campuses. The role-holder will liaise with the Marketing team and global MRAC team, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct annually a thorough analysis of ROI to help inform spend and strategy for subsequent years.
  • Manage the relationship with Heriot Watt University Dubai\'s marketing agencies, for the development and management of international marketing campaigns and analysis of results for reporting to the relevant stakeholders
  • Organise exciting marketing events for prospective students, as well as proposing new ideas to engage with our key segments and audiences
  • Provide advice and support to marketing and recruitment colleagues in Schools and Professional Services, in particular on marketing campaigns.
Education, Qualifications & Experience: Essential
  • Over 7 -years working experience in a globally orientated marketing role
  • Educated to first degree level or equivalent practical experience in the workplace
  • Experience of planning and implementing targeted marketing and communications campaigns
  • Proven experience of operating effectively at a managerial level in a marketing or HE student recruitment role
  • Experience of analysing data (both quantitative and qualitative) from a wide range of information sources and drawing up market intelligence reports and marketing and communications plans
  • Experience of budget management
  • Ability to persuade, motivate and lead a team, including setting objectives and managing workload
  • Working with international colleagues and clients, and understanding cultural variances and norms
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, able to understand and communicate complex issues effectively
  • Demonstrable ability to plan and work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment
  • Well-developed understanding of relevant legal, statutory and governance applications and turning them into good practice (specifics, e.g. H&S, employment law, statutory requirements, may be specified here)
Desirable
  • Significant working experience in a globally orientated marketing role
  • Professional Qualification or membership of Professional body e.g. CIM.
  • Significant experience of working in international recruitment for Higher Education
  • Experience of working in Higher Education
