Oversee and perform advanced land surveying activities, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and geodetic control networks.
Provide expert guidance on work control lines, elevations, and layout for complex construction projects, ensuring precision in installations (e.g., foundations, pipelines, structural components).
Mentor junior surveyors and field crews in best practices for equipment use, data collection, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ALTA/NSPS, ASTM).
Lead the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced surveying equipment (e.g., GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAV/drone systems).
Project & Safety Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for high-profile projects, coordinating with engineers, architects, and contractors to align surveying deliverables with project timelines.
Conduct safety audits, enforce OSHA/compliance standards, and develop mitigation plans for hazardous site conditions.
Review and approve survey data, maps, and legal descriptions for accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Design & GIS Integration:
Supervise the creation of CAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D) and GIS (ArcGIS) deliverables, including 3D models, digital terrain models (DTMs), and right-of-way maps.
Analyze aerial imagery, LiDAR data, and historical records to resolve property boundaries or topographic features discrepancies.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate survey data into BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows.
Stakeholder & Compliance:
Liaise with government agencies, clients, and legal teams to resolve boundary disputes or easement issues.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., land use, zoning, environmental protections).
Manage subcontractors and third-party survey firms to verify quality control of deliverables.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field
(Master's preferred).
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
required; additional certifications (e.g., CFedS, GISP) a plus.
8+ years of progressive experience
in land surveying, with 3+ years in a supervisory/lead role.
Expertise in:
AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, and BIM software.
Advanced GPS/GNSS and robotic total station systems (Trimble, Leica, or Topcon).
Legal principles of boundary resolution and cadastral surveying.
Strong project management skills (PMP or similar certification preferred).
