The Role

The purpose of the Senior HRBP role is to work with and influence partners and key stakeholders to improve business performance by identifying areas for improvement and change in relation to people.

This Senior HRBP role will support fee earning practice groups, primarily in the Dubai and ME offices (Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Cairo).

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering

  • Develop and sustain strong business relationships with client groups to become a trusted advisor.
  • Position HR as an operational business partner and contribute to business planning discussions,by providing commercial information and advice and supporting on all operational people issues.
  • Work with client groups to ensure the structure of the department is appropriate and meets the strategic aims of the business.
  • Work closely with the Senior HR Manager to advise and deliver on re-organisation, restructuring, redundancies, exits and transfers. Take the role of HR lead on change management initiatives within the teams.
  • Ensure the appropriate implementation of all HR policies and procedures including maternity, flexible working, mentoring and equal opportunities.
  • Ensure the firms culture and values are lived within the practice groups and seek opportunities to promote initiatives to further embed them into everyday activities.
Salary Review
  • Maintain market intelligence on salaries and remuneration for client groups and share and work with Senior HR Manager to feed information into the salary review process for the ME region.
  • Implement a commercial salary review process, take into account the need to retain and reward our 'top talent' whilst controlling costs in line with agreed salary spend.
Performance Development
  • Run the Talent Management process for client groups, maintaining up-to-date data on current and future talent.
  • Facilitate moderation meetings with managers, ensuring a consistent approach to the assessment of performance levels across the various departments and job levels where applicable.
  • Deliver the key cyclical performance development activity as directed by the Senior HR Manager across the fee earning practice groups.
  • Advise and support Partners in the development of their people management skills.
  • Support partners with performance reviews and through the disciplinary process where necessary.
  • Oversee the early careers programmes within the fee earning groups, ensuring that trainees get the exposure and experience needed to support their qualifications, and their seat reviews and rotations are managed in a timely manner and are aligned to business needs. Input into the trainee requirement and budgeting process. Manage the qualification process and applications for newly qualified positions within the practice groups.
Role within the broader HR Team
  • Establish working relationship with the HR Manager in Africa to ensure consistency of approach around the key activities.
  • Work with the Recruitment and Finance teams to identify resourcing requirements across client groups and to advise managers on their hiring options. Input into the people budgeting and forecasting process for the practice areas.
  • Work with the HR Shared Services Manager to ensure adequate support for HR administration and data.
  • Work with L&D Manager to ensure that our people have the right skills, experience and knowledge to fulfil their roles. Facilitate and deliver L&D events as and when required.
  • Work with the Head of HR and the Senior HR Manager to communicate and share expertise with the wider team.
Projects
  • Contribute to various projects, both on a local and firm-wide basis, working and liaising with colleagues around the globe where necessary.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Confident advisor, used to working closely with senior stakeholders advising on people matters
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working within a regional role within the Middle East region would be an
advantage
  • Experience working within the legal industry is essential
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • CIPD qualification or alternative HR qualification would be an advantage
  • Arabic speaking would be an advantage
