Job Purpose
Estimation Engineer is responsible for accurate estimating the cost, materials, labor, and resources required for projects, ensuring that projects are financially viable and can be completed within budget constraints.
Responsibilities & Duties
Cost Estimation:
Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering all aspects, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overhead expenses.
Quantity Takeoffs:
Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings and specifications to determine the required quantities of materials and resources.
Bid Preparation:
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and tender documents for submitting to clients or government agencies.
Vendor and Supplier Relations:
Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining competitive quotes and negotiating favorable terms and prices.
Value Engineering:
Collaborate with the project team to identify value engineering opportunities that can optimize project costs without compromising quality.
Risk Assessment:
Evaluate potential risks and contingencies that may affect project costs and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Budget Management
: Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial goals.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, change orders, and project-related documentation.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related filed
- Professional Certifications or Licensure are beneficial
Work Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimation, with a track record of successfully estimation and managing infrastructure projects.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Proficiency in construction estimation software(CAD; CCS) and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of construction industry standards and regulations
- Attention to details and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and presentations skills
