The Senior Editor is responsible for the development of press releases, editorial content and news media in line with the Communications Plans set by the Comms and Media Relations team. He/she is responsible for the creation of press releases to support the GDMO strategic vision and alignment to communicating and promoting the Dubai Key Messages, a matrix of communication messages aligned with the Dubai Vision. He/she is additionally responsible for supporting the Strategic Relations Director and the Editorial Head with Crisis Communications content, including statements and fact sheets, in case of crisis situations. The role holder is expected to demonstrate teamwork skills and carry out his/her duties in accordance with the relevant business policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Develop press releases in Arabic and/or English for GDMO, government/semi-government/private entities, DPC and Brand Dubai
Support the Strategic Relations Director with Crisis Comms activities related to developing press releases and the fact sheet.
Provide translation support to the Content Planning team for social media and website content
Develop press releases for GDMO news content, ensuring content is linked to Dubai Key Messages
Translate Arabic to English and vice versa for GDMO news content (for media and website, as needed)
Develop press releases for B2B news content, ensuring content is linked to Dubai Key Messages
Translate Arabic to English and vice versa for government, semi-government and private entities' news content (for media and website, as needed)
Develop press releases for DPC news content, ensuring content is linked to Dubai Key Messages
Translate Arabic to English and vice versa for DPC news content (for media and website, as needed)
Develop press releases for Brand Dubai news content, ensuring content is linked to Dubai Key Messages
Translate Arabic to English and vice versa for Brand Dubai news content (for media and website, as needed)
Support the Social Media and Website team to develop copy for social media captions and/or content (text overlay or text-based posts) in Arabic and/or English
Support the Social Media and Website team to develop copy for website content in Arabic and/or English
Stay up-to-date on digital and traditional press/news trends and best practices
Develop different writing styles to suit audience needs across platforms, depending on the specific press release, the goal associated with the press release and the intended platform (digital versus traditional)
Strengthen editorial skills, develop skills for content across digital media, such as optimizing press release content for SEO, readability, and audience engagement
Support Senior Editors with the creation of Crisis Communications content, including initial and on-going statements across social media and news channels (TV and print), as applicable
Support Senior Editors with the creation of fact sheets for crises, in line with the Crisis Communications process
