Senior Design Manager

in

Doha, Qatar

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

Master's degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a closely related field. Professional licensure (RA, RLA, RIBA, AIA) strongly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 20 years

of progressive, demonstrable experience in design management, specifically:

Leading the design of

large-scale (>$500M USD), complex, mixed-use luxury destinations

. Significant, proven expertise with

coastal, beachfront, or environmentally sensitive site developments

(mandatory). Full lifecycle involvement from

Concept Master planning through Detailed Design, Tender, Construction, and Handover

. Direct experience

identifying, selecting, negotiating with, and managing globally renowned "starchitect" and top-tier design firms

. Managing multi-disciplinary design teams exceeding 50+ consultants. Navigating complex environmental permitting and regulatory landscapes. Proven portfolio designing/curating experiential masterplans for global destinations (resorts, cultural precincts, or high-profile public realms). Demonstrable success in placemaking strategies that drove commercial differentiation (e.g., awards, visitor metrics, brand positioning).

Technical Proficiency:

Expertise in BIM methodologies and tools: Autodesk Revit (essential), Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC,

environmental modeling tools, and experiential design software (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine for VR walkthroughs). Proficiency in related design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp). Strong understanding of coastal engineering principles, sustainable/resilient design (LEED, BREEAM, WELL, SITES), and environmental impact mitigation. Fluency in regenerative design frameworks (Living Community Challenge, Biophilic Design). Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials (especially coastal durability), and luxury detailing. Proficient in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) for design schedule tracking.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and negotiation skills to manage high-profile design talent and stakeholders. Outstanding visual, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills (C-suite, Board, Designers, Community). Uncompromising eye for quality, detail, and luxury aesthetics. Strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure. Proactive, collaborative, and resilient with a proven ability to drive results in complex, ambiguous environments. High integrity and cultural sensitivity for global operations. Storytelling prowess to pitch experiential visions to boards/investors. Cross-cultural fluency to embed local narratives into global luxury context

Highly Desirable:

Experience working directly for a top-tier global architecture or design firm on luxury hospitality/residential projects. Experience in luxury resort/hotel operations and understanding of operational design needs. Fluency in multiple languages relevant to company operations. Network of established relationships with leading global design practices. Experience with computational design, parametric modeling, or digital fabrication. Knowledge of marine biology/ecology relevant to coastal development. Experiential Master planning & Placemaking
