Job Description

A senior civil construction engineer is a highly experienced professional who leads and manages civil engineering projects from start to finish. Key responsibilities include project planning, design review, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supervising construction activities to guarantee projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves technical leadership, project management, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

Project leadership

: Oversee and manage the entire lifecycle of civil projects, from initial concept to final delivery.

Technical oversight

: Review and approve designs, drawings, and calculations to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.

Construction management

: Supervise all aspects of construction, including scheduling, resource allocation, and site activities.

Quality and safety

: Ensure all work meets project specifications, industry codes, and safety standards.

Team supervision

: Lead and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and construction workers.

Stakeholder communication

: Prepare and present project progress reports to management and clients.

Problem-solving

: Address and resolve complex engineering issues that arise during a project.
Requirements and qualifications

Education

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, and often an advanced degree or certifications are beneficial.

Experience

A minimum of several years of experience in civil engineering, often with a few years in a senior role on similar projects.

Skills
