The

Senior Barista

is responsible for delivering exceptional coffee and customer experiences while supporting the daily operations of the cafe. This role serves as a mentor and lead to junior baristas, ensuring consistency in beverage quality, service standards, and operational efficiency. The Senior Barista also assists with training, inventory management, and shift supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based and specialty beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards. Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining a welcoming cafe environment. Train, guide, and support baristas in coffee preparation, customer service, and operational procedures. Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations. Assist in monitoring stock levels and ordering coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed. Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment; perform basic troubleshooting and cleaning. Oversee shift operations when the manager is unavailable -- including cash handling, opening, and closing duties. Monitor beverage quality and consistency, adjusting grind settings or recipes when necessary. Contribute to menu development and recommend new beverages or improvements based on customer feedback. Maintain accurate records of sales, wastage, and stock usage. Promote brand values and uphold company standards at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum

2-3 years of experience

as a barista in a busy cafe or specialty coffee environment. Deep knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, brewing methods, and latte art. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work efficiently under pressure. Basic inventory management and POS operation skills. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Passionate about coffee culture and continuous learning.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Barista certification (e.g., SCA, Barista Guild, or equivalent) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours). Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive motions.
