Job description

1. Creating building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications
2. Advises Contractors/ Subcontractors on the interpretation of plans, recommends changes when necessary.
3. Prepares and/or review preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates related to the project.
4. Researches literature and maintain knowledge of current building materials, structural, mechanical and electrical system codes and methods of application.
5. Reviews Subcontractor\'s shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and contract agreements by checking them for technical accuracy according to accepted guidelines.
6. Works with customers and Clients to gather facts, defines design and space planning problems, conceptualize possible solutions and secure approvals of proposals.
7. Reviews product literature, analyses materials and determine appropriateness for application to projects.
8. Provides advice and develop design documents to initiate and modify architectural, interior design and space planning solutions.
9. Performs design drafting including preliminary drawings, working drawings and full detail drawings for architectural, structural and mechanical works associated with building construction or improvement projects.
10. Provides finish selections including colour palettes, carpet and wall finishes, lighting and other various interior selections.
11. Oversees all architectural teams in project-in-charge.
12. Works closely with Team Leaders to highlight discrepancies in drawings or lacking areas to ensure smooth delivery of project.
13. Liaises with contractors and consultants on work site.
14. Reviews shop drawings, RFI, material samples, method statement, etc.
15. Liaises with design team on design, coordination issues.
16. Attends meetings with design team and coordinates with all disciplines involved in projects (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical, interior design and landscaping).
17. Oversees and monitor progress of on-site work and resolves any arising issues.
18. Perform administrative role required by the respective form of contract.
19. Collaborate with other team members to determine design needs and requirements for the project.
20. Supervision of design team, necessary review, corrections and guidelines.
21. Attend meetings with clients to propose or review design proposals, making modifications or revisions at various stages of project.
22. Prepare & maintain project documents like correspondence, minutes of meeting, notes etc.
23. Traveling to the various sites to complete physical inspections, site supervision and site surveys (If required).
24. Assist in preparing tender applications, presentations & negotiations with contractors (If required

Profile

• Bachelor or Master\'s Degree of Architecture
• Minimum eight (8) years work experience in Architectural Design firm a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Revit
• Proficient in AutoCad, Revit - BIM, Sketchup, Photoshop, 3Ds Max, Primavera, Naviswork
• Knowledge in Document Management, Project Management and Database Software
• Good knowledge of architectural principles/practices including site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical engineering and construction
• Working knowledge on local and international building codes
• Good communication and time management skills
• Dubai and/or Abu Dhabi Municipality registered Architect is an advantage
