International Ophthalmology Hospital
in the UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality optometric services to patients, supporting ophthalmologists in patient diagnosis and treatment, and offering expert care for a variety of vision-related conditions.
The candidate must have a solid background in clinical optometry, with prior experience working in a UAE-based ophthalmology hospital or clinic.
Key Responsibilities
:
Patient Care & Consultation
:
Conduct thorough eye examinations, assess visual acuity, refractive status, and general eye health of patients.
Interpret and analyze results from diagnostic tests, including but not limited to visual field testing, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), and corneal topography.
Provide professional advice and recommend appropriate treatment plans for vision correction, including glasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists for pre-operative and post-operative patient management, ensuring the integration of optometric findings into the overall treatment plan.
Diagnostic & Therapeutic Support
:
Perform diagnostic imaging and other specialized testing as per the protocols of the hospital.
Provide support for managing conditions such as refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.
Assist in identifying early signs of ocular diseases and refer patients for specialized ophthalmic care where necessary.
Patient Education
:
Educate patients on the use of optical devices, the importance of regular eye exams, and the impact of lifestyle factors (such as screen time, UV exposure) on eye health.
Provide post-operative education and care instructions for patients who have undergone eye surgeries (e.g., LASIK, cataract surgery).
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Care
:
Work closely with the ophthalmology team, including surgeons and medical staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient management discussions, focusing on visual health.
Clinical Administration
:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with hospital standards and regulations.
Ensure all necessary diagnostic reports, prescriptions, and documentation are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Oversee the management and inventory of optometric equipment and optical supplies.
Research and Development
:
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in optometry, ophthalmology, and medical technologies.
Contribute to clinical research, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Requirements

Education & Qualifications
:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optometry (B.Optom or M.Optom).
Valid licensure or certification as an Optometrist in the UAE (e.g., DHA or MOH license).
Certification in advanced diagnostic techniques (e.g., OCT, visual field analysis) is desirable.
Experience
:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical optometry, preferably in an ophthalmology hospital or multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
Hands-on experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and patient care in an ophthalmology-focused environment.
Experience working with a diverse patient population, with particular sensitivity to cultural and language differences.
Skills
:
Strong knowledge of optometric principles, diagnostic equipment, and patient care protocols.
Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and optometric tools.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
