Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced

Safety Officer

to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines on our construction sites. The Safety Officer will be responsible for creating a safe working environment by implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, training workers, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures. Monitor all site activities to ensure safety protocols are followed, including work at height, scaffolding, excavation, lifting, and use of PPE. Provide safety training and toolbox talks to workers and subcontractors. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions. Investigate accidents or near misses and prepare detailed reports with recommended preventive actions. Ensure that all equipment and machinery are operated safely and meet legal and regulatory safety standards. Coordinate with site supervisors and project managers to promote a culture of safety. Liaise with government bodies during inspections and ensure documentation is up-to-date and available. Maintain emergency preparedness plans and conduct evacuation drills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety qualifications. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of local and international construction safety standards. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions quickly. Proficiency in MS Office and report writing.

Preferred Skills:

First Aid/CPR certified. Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). Arabic language skills (preferred in MENA region). Ability to train workers from diverse backgrounds.
