Our SafeGuarding Teams at Dubai Campus provide an effective safeguarding service which protects the University\'s population, assets and reputation whilst underpinning its values and supporting its strategic objectives. This role involves a rotational working pattern over weekdays and may include weekend working to support events if necessary.
Purpose of the role
The post holder will work closely and report to the Dubai SafeGuarding Response Manager to ensure service priorities and security of Dubai Campus are met. The Postholder will Supervise outsourced contracted security team in accordance with service policies and compliance with procedures ensuring a reliable, efficient safeguarding service to meet the University\'s requirements at Dubai Campus. The Postholder will also ensure the effective performance of the security duty team. Contribute to the planning of safeguarding requirements and supporting training and development of staff as necessary.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Managing the contracted security service
Securing Dubai Campus building as necessary
Patrolling Dubai Campus building to protect population and assets of the University from crime.
Protecting the resources of the University against damage by fire, flood or other hazards and reporting possible breaches of Health & Safety regulations to the SafeGuarding Response Manager.
Managing and interacting with CCTV, fire, intruder, access control and other security systems as required.
Contacting and liaising with emergency services as necessary.
Provide welfare and pastoral support as required to students, staff and visitors.
Act as an ambassador for the University always.
Respond to service requirements.
Fulfil the role of Senior Fire Marshall for Dubai Campus
Manage personal work profile in keeping with service demands following established procedures and as directed by management.
Liaise with SafeGuarding Managers in UK as required
Participate in and ensure completion of all necessary oral and written reporting as required.
Undertake staff performance and development reviews.
Demonstrate an understanding of and participate in health and safety practices e.g., first aid, lone working, and emergency procedures.
Coordinate first responder activities.
Receive, dispatch, transport, and store securely materials required for university business.
Participate in all relevant communication.
Any other tasks appropriate to the post and in line with university business needs.
Education Qualifications & Experience
Essential Criteria
Computer literate.
Experience using electronic security systems such as CCTV, Access Control, Radio systems etc.
SIRA Security Supervisor License
Minimum 3 years\' experience in a security supervisory role
Relevant experience in Heriot-Watt University Dubai security procedures
Desirable Criteria
Previous leadership activities in a similar role
Experience of delivering security related training
Special Factors
Requirement to work at weekends or out of hours during peak periods, or as needed to ensure seamless service delivery.
