Ricardo Rail is a global multi-disciplinary rail consultancy providing services in expert advice and independent assurance across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia where we employ c500 consultants working on rolling stock, infrastructure and independent assurance projects.

We provide consultancy and independent assurance services, including NoBo, DeBo, AsBo and ISA, across infrastructure and rolling stock to a clients including infrastructure managers, train manufactures, equipment manufacturers and maintainers.

We are now looking to recruit a senior Rolling Stock Safety consultant for an ISA position to take a leading role in delivering consultancy for Middle Eastern clients in ISA projects.

Job Summary:

The role we are seeking to fill is that of a senior Rolling Stock Safety Consultant to support our projects and deliverables in an Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) Project in the Middle East.

A good domain knowledge of railway rolling stock engineering (mechanical and electrical) is essential and a detailed understanding of rolling stock systems and how they interface and operate with each other at an engineering level is key.

As a Senior Consultant you will be heavily client focussed and will spend a significant time dealing with our clients to ensure we deliver our services efficiently and understand the clients\xe2\x80\x99 needs and requirements. We require all our consultants to interface with Clients and other project stakeholders at both a technical and contractual level.

You will be required to take on a range of projects including consultancy, safety engineering and RAMS and so will be able to understand the processes and procedures and their implementation.

As a more senior member of the team you would also be overseeing work being undertaken by less experienced engineers, providing advice and assistance at the detailed level.

As a project manager for relevant projects within your area of expertise you will be required to manage the delivery of your own work to the client and that of others within the team to timescale, cost and quality.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

• Prepare and develop strategies / plans to deliver Independent Safety Assessment activities as one off activities or through project life cycle stages.
• Prepare assessment documents and observations against engineering design and system assurance documentation and delivered assets.
• Facilitate and provide safety support in Design Workshops including the preparation of comprehensive meeting minutes.
• Development of Hazard logs and manage of these to suitable closure including effective transfer of hazards to appropriate stakeholder.
• Represent Safety Assurance concepts and arguments to stakeholders
• Carry out qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and provide documented results
• Develop and deliver risk models using contemporary techniques include cause/ consequence models and FTA.
• Develop and deliver options assessments to support arguments that safety has been managed SFAIRP.
• Provide guidance and support on Engineering Safety and Systems Assurance to engineering staff within Ricardo Rail Australia and to client and supplier representatives;.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years professional railway experience. Relevant degree from a recognised University. 5 years involvement in independent safety assessments of rolling stock for railway projects. Middle East experience would be an advantage.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
• Significant experience in a respective railway engineering discipline and be professionally competent to be the Client representative at Railway Regulatory and other Safety Meetings
• Extensive experience with railway System Assurance.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating or providing safety input to hazard identification / risk workshops;
• Experience in projects that deliver following the Systems Engineering life cycle and appropriate models including the V-lifecycle.
• Demonstrated ability in the application of safety-related standards such as ISO/IEC 61508 Functional Safety of EEPE Safety Related Systems, and EN 50126/ 8/9 Specification and demonstration of RAMS to the design of systems and tools within an operational or project environment;
• Demonstrated understanding of safety responsibilities under Rail Safety National Law and WHS legislation.
