The Worldwide Consulting Centres (WWCC), which are part of the global VMware Professional Services Organization, are committed to the success of the customer and their digital strategy. The WWCC streamlines the journey for customers to become digital businesses that deliver better experiences to their customers and employees. The Delivery Consulting practice allows customers and regional field services teams to take advantage of the Worldwide Consulting Centres’ focus on the technical skills for Deployment and Design methodologies, overall structure, and strategies for seamlessly delivering services from global locations (offshore and nearshore). The Senior Consultant is an advanced/experienced level technology specialist and subject matter expert on End User Computing (EUC) portfolio, providing customer guidance by facilitating technical workshops, creation of designs, and implementation of use cases into high-quality solutions. In addition to customer-facing responsibilities, Senior Consultants also provide technical input to service offering evaluation, customer success initiative, pre-sales, and drive best practices in the form of document/White Paper creation.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• You will be expected to effectively work as part of a wider project team or independently act as technical lead on migration engagements.
• You should be able to identify process gaps and work with the team to address them
• Maintain a technical understanding of the following:

Virtual Desktop/Application delivery and management platforms Identity Management and Access platforms Cloud Hosting platforms – AWS, Azure, SoftLayer

• Maintain a technical understanding across VMware Virtualization, Networking, Cloud and Mobility products/technologies.

• Understand and deliver digital workspace infrastructure accelerator engagements, implementations, rollouts, and migrations, including hands-on implementation of Horizon

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Collaborate with cross-functional VMware project teams which could consist of VMware pre-sales architects, engineers, product management, consulting, and support staff.
• Work as part of a wider project team or independently act as technical lead on migration engagements
• Confidently gather use case requirements and creation of low-level designs while functioning as an advisory resource for “Best Practices” and driving adoption of VMware solutions.
• Develop use cases into high-quality solutions in your specialist area
• Actively demonstrate commercial awareness and stay within the scope of the contracted work.
• Take ownership and accountability for individual deliverables.
• Define project requirements/issues/constraints with PMs.
• Make accurate impact assessments, and raise, implement, close and roll-back plans when required

• Understanding of application federation, identity providers, service providers, SAML, and OAUTH
• Understanding of networking concepts (Layer 4, Layer 7), DNS, routing, load balancers (i.e. F5, NetScaler), forward and reverse proxies.
• Understanding of security, firewalls, traffic inspection, SSL handling (offloading, bridging, passthrough), deep SSL certificate knowledge
• Understanding of office 365 management, traditional and modern auth, EAS.
• 3rd party Certifications that demonstrate technical domain knowledge (Citrix, Mobile Iron, Microsoft, Ivanti, JAMF, SOTI, AWS) preferable.
• Server configuration knowledge of windows server 2016 / 2012R2 / 2012 / 2008, Linux forms (Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, OpenSUSE), web server platforms (IIS, Apache) preferable.
• Database configuration knowledge of SQL Server 2016 / 2014 / 2012 / 2008R2 preferable.

• This position reports to a Manager in Worldwide Consulting Center team. You will have frequent interactions with your manager but will have large autonomy on a daily basis. You will share information with the rest of the team and can expect the team to help you when you have questions.

This role is based out of VMware’s Cairo (Egypt) office and is open to candidates in the surrounding Egypt as Flexible working environment
