Job Overview



The R&M Technician I is responsible for performing hands-on inspection, maintenance, and repair of field tools . This role is essential in supporting operational readiness by refurbishing and preparing equipment for deployment in compliance with Weatherford's standards and industry regulations. The technician will follow established safety policies, maintenance procedures, and quality systems to ensure consistent, reliable service delivery. Technicians in more senior positions may also lead work assignments, guide less experienced staff, and support troubleshooting, equipment diagnostics, and continuous improvement efforts.


Responsibilities:



Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble well service tools and equipment. Perform pressure testing and functional checks on downhole and surface tools. Maintain and refurbish completion and drilling tools to ensure operational readiness. Operate mechanical and electrical test equipment to diagnose tool conditions. Use cranes, forklifts, hoists, and hand tools safely for equipment handling and movement. Follow established safety protocols and company procedures during all maintenance activities. Document all work performed, including inspection results, repairs, and tests. Monitor inventory levels of parts and tools, assist with ordering supplies as needed. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to comply with safety standards. Report equipment failures and coordinate repairs or replacements promptly. Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis under supervision. Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives. In senior roles, lead daily work assignments and provide guidance to junior technicians.

Skills:



Strong mechanical aptitude and experience handling tools and equipment Ability to follow technical procedures, maintenance instructions, and safety protocols Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and pressure gauges Basic knowledge of hazardous materials, radiation safety, and explosive handling Effective time management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under field and workshop conditions Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision Physically capable of lifting, moving, and assembling heavy equipment Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and time-tracking systems Clear written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications:



Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry or industrial repair & maintenance roles Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy; experience with Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking systems
