We're Checkout.com - you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen.
Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.
With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere - but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they're fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day. Ideal. Because a role here isn't just another job; it's a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, adaptable People leader to take on a role defined by both strategic oversight and operational mastery within one of Checkout.com's most dynamic regions.
We are looking for a true "full-stack" People Lead who thrives on duality:
You will be the architect and driver of major, complex People strategy projects - from regional talent development frameworks to manager academy, aligning with global frameworks and best practices.
Yet, you will not shy away from the critical, day-to-day operational details. Success in this role means managing everything from ensuring accurate payroll and compliance reporting to the essential, detail-oriented administrative tasks like onboarding and managing visas/medical insurance.
If you are someone who excels at strategic stakeholder engagement with senior leadership while simultaneously providing hands-on operational execution and support to managers and employees, this is the perfect challenge. You will not just adapt global policies; you will own the People experience in MENA from the highest level of strategy down to the smallest detail of employee support.
What you will be doing:
---------------------------
Developing and implementing a comprehensive People strategy for the MENA region, aligned with global objectives and tailored to local nuances. This includes talent acquisition, development, workplace experience, facility management, employee relations, and engagement of the workforce.
Build strong relationships with local leadership teams to understand their business needs and provide strategic People support and guidance.
Managing a team of People professionals across the region, fostering their development and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Overseeing all People operations in the region, ensuring compliance with the local labour laws, regulation and intern policies.
Driving key People initiatives such as diversity and inclusion, leadership development, and employee engagement.
Designing and facilitating leadership and cultural initiatives, using influencing and coaching skills to cultivate a culture that reflects our core values and operating principles.
Analyzing People data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and inform decision-making.
Partnering with the global People team to ensure consistency and best practice sharing across regions.
Designing, building and implementing programs, processes and tools to help set managers and employees up for success
Qualifications:
-------------------
8+ years of progressive experience in the HR or People Operations field.
A minimum of 4 years of recent, dedicated experience within the MENA region is required.
The candidate must possess deep, practical market knowledge of business operations, labor practices, and the competitive landscape in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
A strong and current understanding of UAE and Saudi Labour Law is essential to ensure rigorous regional compliance.
Proven success is required in a dynamic, fast-moving, and high-pressure business (e.g., FinTech, Scale-up, or high-growth tech).
Demonstrated experience in managing and resolving complex and sensitive employee relations cases is necessary.
Demonstrated Experience or an appetite for leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance and streamline People Operations processes.
