Summary:

This position should be based in Dubai. This position also offers the possibility of working from home in a hybrid working environment.

The Regional Head of Middle East & Africa (MEA) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership and execution of the company's commercial strategy for the assigned country and region. The incumbent is the commercial representative for PTC and plays a key role in building the commercial platform for PTC in his/her designated markets in the Middle East and African countries.

He/she manages direct reports.

The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources on Commercial Management related issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary duties/responsibilities:

Contributes to, and supports, the development of the corporate/global commercial business strategy, sales and marketing plans, and regional commercial initiatives to maximize product performance in collaboration with relevant representatives in the appropriate healthcare market. Drives market access, obtains compensation/reimbursement for Translarna other products as/when they come online, and builds PTC's commercial presence in MEA. Develops complimentary regional business strategy(ies) and executes on associated tactical initiatives, financial plans, staffing requirements, etc. required to drive and sustain commercial growth within the designated region. Builds and leads the specific commercial operations for PTC, including the management of regional partner relationships, and drives the achievement of market objectives. Responsible for and accountable to deliver against the agreed commercial and strategic objectives, managing profit & loss (P&L) (including direct impact on sales, cost, and profitability) as well as quality, compliance, and risk management. Responsible for the operational management of the sales team, planning and developing forecasts and budgets; provides input to regional and global product strategies. Establishes, manages, and maintains successful relations with relevant health authorities, key opinion leaders (KOLs), government agencies and officials, and patient and industry associations; point of contact for KOLs, government, and payors. Effectively identifies, develops, and executes reimbursement strategy at a national and local level including communication of the value proposition to key stakeholders. Develops a tight-knit organization capable of fulfilling all the requirements of growing, successful, ethical, diverse, and compliant biopharmaceutical organizations; builds the commercial platform for PTC in designated regions of responsibility; recruits, manages trains, and develops commercial and other related teams. Contributes to the development and maintenance of a regulatory, pharmacovigilance (PV), quality, distribution, and medical affairs framework that ensures ongoing compliance with all legal and statutory requirements in the designated region; collaborates, guides, and supports third-party providers on successful planning and achievement of operational and strategic goals. Leads, develops, and implements geographical expansion and market entry business plans for a specific region of responsibility in line with the global commercial strategy. Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in a related business or scientific discipline and a minimum of 10 years of progressively strategic experience in commercial roles (marketing and/or sales) in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related environment including a minimum of 4 years in a regional/country general management role or a minimum of 10 years of related professional experience in the same environments or equivalent. Demonstrated track record of success leading the commercialization of an orphan, rare disease, and/or specialized drug(s) that require the development and execution of unique sales and marketing strategies. Demonstrated understanding of the country and/or region's regulatory and reimbursement requirements. Ability to anticipate issues and respond quickly, flexibly, and creatively to solve problems and address commercial market challenges. Demonstrated experience building and leading commercial teams dedicated to integrity and the growth of the business. Experience developing, managing, and maintaining relationships with governments, regulators, and other relevant authorities, external service providers, etc. Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing, coaching, and mentoring direct reports Ability to influence without direct authority. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members. Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects. Fluent in English and Arabic (verbal and written).

*Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred. Advanced degree (Ph.D., Master's, MBA). Experience in rare diseases and/or more of the following therapeutic areas: genetic disorders, neuromuscular disorders, respiratory. Fluency in additional languages would be considered a benefit. In-depth, hands-on experience working in a small but fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.
