Position Overview
Based at BanoPuratos Factory UAE, in order to further strengthen our R&D team, we are currently seeking:
R&D Application Specialist
United Arab Emirates
The ideal candidate will provide technical support to the R&D structure by conducting research and performing industrial application trials, particularly in the Bakery and Pastry categories (30%). They will also support local business requirements by developing products in line with market needs (20%), assist the R&D team in managing local projects to ensure viability and feasibility through applied R&D management systems (20%), and contribute to the design and development of new products, product/process changes, and enhancements to maintain a robust development pipeline (30%).
Key Accountabilities

• Maintain Design and implement all technical aspects of projects.
• Conduct research and experiments independently, generating data and findings to support business objectives, particularly in Bakery and Pastry.
• Provide technical support for industrial trials of new products, including optimization and troubleshooting.
• Build business networks based on customer segmentation to understand their needs and support Sales Managers accordingly. Conduct large-scale trials with designated customers.
• Offer technical support to Sales Managers to help achieve sales objectives.
• Stay updated on innovations in food systems and ingredients across various food disciplines.
• Ensure safety in R&D laboratories and industrial production facilities.
• Collaborate with Sales Managers to expand the industrial customer base through innovation and the application of core competencies.
• Liaise with global technical teams to build knowledge bases and facilitate technical training. Establish strong relationships with other Puratos R&D and Innovation Center (IC) departments.
• Manage trials at Application Labs, Pilot Plants, and Customer Industrial Lines, including:
• Ensuring safety and hygiene in pilot plants.
• Planning sample preparation and production.
• Recipe formulation.
• Conducting trial runs.
• Evaluating samples and performing basic sensory analyses.
• Conducting shelf-life studies.
• Managing project timelines and deliverables.
• Oversee the registration of new raw materials and products.
• Qualify alternative raw materials.
• Maintain documentation, including specifications, MSDS, and nutritional information.
• Assist in the procurement of raw materials and packaging.

Processing Verification

• Conduct research and industrial trials relevant to Bakery and Pastry projects.
• Support ongoing process development and prototype manufacturing based on study priorities.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain and operate standard R&D equipment and instruments.
• Report trial findings and set new objectives to drive project closure and sales outcomes.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to report local market trends.
• Conduct benchmarking studies on competitor products.
• Perform routine competitor analysis, focusing on bread improvers and cake mixes.
• Gather market information regarding trends, competitive activity, and product development needs.
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment within the company.
• Support company goals, objectives, policies, procedures, GMP, and local regulations.
• Maintain corporate confidentiality at all times.

Profile

• 5-10 years of R&D experience, preferably in the F&B manufacturing industry.
• 1-3 years of experience in Bakery and/or Pastry.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent communication/commercial abilities.
• Applied knowledge and interest in food ingredients and applications.

• Proactive in building trustworthy business relationships within market segments (Bakery & Pastry).

• Comprehensive knowledge of food processing, engineering, formulation, and packaging principles.
• Familiarity with diverse food systems and ingredients.
• Strong multitasking abilities; capable of performing under pressure and meeting deadlines.
• Highly independent and self-driven.
• Protects BanoPuratos IP and respects customer IP with absolute confidentiality.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
