Job Description

General Responsibilities:


Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot all radio and communication equipment including VHF, HF, satellite systems (Inmarsat, FleetBroadband), and emergency distress channels (e.g., Channel 16). Maintain continuous watch on distress frequencies and coordinate emergency communication procedures during incidents such as man overboard, medical evacuations, or fire. Record all transmissions, compile daily logs, and generate communication activity reports. Facilitate communication with support vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and emergency services. Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of radio equipment and antennas. Coordinate personnel movements, supply runs, helicopter arrivals/departures, and personnel transfers. Respond promptly to emergency situations and activate the vessel's emergency communication protocols. Ensure compliance with maritime and international communication regulations, including GMDSS standards. Keep up-to-date with operational procedures, safety protocols, and crew training on communication systems.

Job Requirements:


Should have 6 months' experience in a communications position in the marine industry. The candidate must have knowledge of helicopter operations. A valid General Operator GMDSS certificate * a valid basic safety training course (survival course), including HUET as applicable
